Lophopagurus pumilus was isolated from Pagurixus hectori.
While examining iNat's Pagurixus hectori registration data, I found an unfamiliar species mixed in with the data, so I located a Lophopagurus pumilus with matching characteristics in a New Zealand paper.

Therefore, we isolated Lophopagurus pumilus, which was mixed in with the Pagurixus hectori observational record data.
I also moved what was originally registered as Lophopagurus pumilus because it appeared to be Pagurixus hectori.

I originally mistook them for being Pagurixius hectori due to the yellow and red banding on the legs, but I see that it is indeed not that species. Are there any morphological features you used to distinguish Lophopagurus pumilus? I'm not very good at interpreting descriptions as you linked above, though in general the crabs colours seem to match L. pumilus. The red stripes running down each leg seem like a good way to identify this species. :)

Characteristics of Pagurixus hectori.
Cornea slightly red.
Ocular peduncle white, proximal half orange.
Antennule is orange with a white central band.
Antennule is reddish-black with a row of white bands.
Cheliped is red or reddish black, shiny, and much larger on the right side.
The leg merus has a dark band proximally and centrally and an orange band distally.
Each segment of the leg has a similar pattern repeated, darker proximally and orange distally, but darker proximally in propodus and dactyl.
The entire body is hairless.
Characteristics of Lophopagurus pumilus.
Cornea is white and lined with red dots.
Ocular peduncle has reddish-black spots.
Antennule is orange with a reddish-black base.
Antennae are reddish-black and lined with white bands.
Merus of pereopods is reddish-black, distally white with an orange band over it.
Cheliped has a gradation from brown to green.
Carpus of the legs appears to have three reddish-black vertical stripes on a white background.
Propodus of the legs is the same color as the carpus from proximal to median, but white from median to distal with a central orange band.
Dactyls of the leg have the same pattern as the carpus from proximal to median, white from median to distal, slightly red at the tip.
Hairy all over the body.
The most obvious difference may be the presence or absence of body hair :)
