One of the first few males to emerge from a known population, part of an ongoing study into the ecology of Nearctic Melitta. Site is dry and not in proximity to any Maleberry/Cranberry but has an abundance of Deerberry (Maleberry is also not yet flowering in this region). A single male was captured for identification while in the field and was returned to its capture location afterwards. Barely visible in my photos (Only had a phone on me…), but fine white hair present on first few tergites while fine dark hair present on last few tergites.
