My research and academic background is in mammal ecology, phylogenetics and natural history primarily on mammals in the Great Plains and mountain west of North America and on evening bats (Vespertilionidae) globally. More recently, I have also conducted research on coccidia parasite systematics, as well as genomics and transcriptomics of filamentous fungi. I am an active birder and have interests in insect and plant ecology as well.
