Hodges 1974 noted that Epicallima Dyar is an invalid replacement name for Callima Clemens and was proposed due to a misspelling of Kallima Westwood. Pohl & Landry in Pohl & Nanz 2023 have reviewed the taxonomy and again concluded that Callima is the valid name for this genus, despite recent literature of the Eurasian fauna still using Epicallima. This change brings this species' name up-to-date with Moth Photographers Group and BugGuide.
